Child Psychologist

 

The role

onPsych is seeking fully registered Psychologists or Mental Health Social Workers to work in schools across Melbourne.

We currently have Full-time and Part-time positions available and are able to consider contract roles as well as Salary based positions.

As a member of onPsych, you will have the ability to select your own hours, work during school hours and have school holidays off with opportunities to work systematically within the family with parents and siblings, provide therapeutic support for teachers, deliver workshops and/or educational assessments as required.

 

Duties & responsibilities

Much of your work will be psycho-educational, teaching cognitive and social skills and developing behavioural programs.

Some of the psychological issues you will support schools with include :

  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Stress (exams/relationships)
  • Behavioural and conduct disorders
  • Social, relationship and emotional issues (anger management/emotion de-regulation)
  • Mental Health disorders related to Bullying – both for the bully and bullied
  • Communication
  • Divorce and Grief
  • ASD and ADHD adjustment to integrated learning

onPsych also offers the following skills training groups:

  • Anxiety/Anger Management
  • Relationship and social skills
  • Motivation Parenting Skills
  • Mindfulness

 

What you’ll need

  • Psychologists will require full AHPRA registration
  • Social Workers will require Mental Health Social Work registration with AASW
  • Police check (or prepared to obtain this)
  • Working With Children’s Check
  • Current drivers licence
  • Computer, with a reliable internet connection
  • Mobile phone
  • Effective communication skills for a wide range of client groups
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports and have good presentation skills
  • Able to build rapport with teachers, parents, doctors and other professionals
  • Enjoy and able to work independently
  • Ability to manage a significant caseload
  • Knowledge of a range of therapeutic techniques suitable for use with children and young people
